Asia tech stocks rise after Trump pauses tariffs on China and Mexico
Feb 04, 2025
The story is about how Asian tech stocks went up because the U.S. president Donald Trump paused tariffs on Mexico and Canada. This made tech companies in Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong happy. Some Japanese tech companies, like Advantest and Lasertec, went up a lot. In South Korea, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix also went up. In Hong Kong, companies like Tencent, Meituan, BYD, Xpeng, and Li Auto had good days too. Even though there were worries about tariffs, the tech stocks went up. The Chinese tech companies did well too, even with the U.S. putting tariffs on them. Trump will talk to the President of China this week to try to avoid more tariffs. It's all about how different countries and companies are affected by the decisions made by their leaders.
