Here’s Punxsutawney Phil’s Groundhog Day weather report
Feb 02, 2025
Punxsutawney Phil, the famous groundhog, predicted six more weeks of winter. He saw his shadow, which means cold weather is staying. Phil is a father to two baby groundhogs, Sunny and Shadow. People in Pennsylvania celebrate Groundhog Day every year to know when spring will come. Some people want to replace Phil with a cake, but the governor won't let that happen. Even though Phil isn't always right about the weather, people still love the tradition. There are other groundhogs like Staten Island Chuck who predict the weather more accurately. Phil is not the best at predicting, but he is the most famous. The tradition of Groundhog Day started in Europe and came to the United States with German settlers. They chose a groundhog to predict the weather because there were no hedgehogs here. The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club hosts the event every year at Gobbler's Knob. While the tradition is fun, it is not always accurate. But people still enjoy celebrating and waiting to see what the groundhog predicts.
