China says Australian military plane intruded into its airspace

Feb 13, 2025
In a big ocean called the South China Sea, two countries, China and Australia, are having a dispute. It's like a disagreement between friends at school, but much bigger! Recently, China said an Australian military plane flew into its airspace without asking. They said this was not nice and claimed ownership of some tiny islands called the Paracel Islands. These islands are important to China, but Vietnam also wants them. China told Australia to leave their special area and to stop bothering them. They want peace and quiet in the sea. But Australia has its own story. They said a Chinese fighter jet was being unsafe. A Chinese jet flew very close to an Australian surveillance plane. Imagine if two friends were flying kites and one got too close to the other’s kite! They said this was not how to behave. Australia’s Defence Minister, Richard Marles, said the Chinese jet even let off bright flares near their plane. This made them feel very uneasy and worried. China and Australia are talking back and forth, saying what they think about each other's actions. It’s like when two friends argue, each thinking they are right. China wants Australia to stop coming into their space, while Australia wants China to be safe and kind in the sky. The South China Sea is a busy place with many planes and ships. Both countries really want to protect their interests and show they are strong. Everyone hopes they find a way to talk and understand each other without fighting. This way, all the planes can fly safely, and the sea can be calm again! So, remember, it’s important to be friendly and respectful, even when we disagree. That way, everyone can enjoy their time together!
