Europe's leaders warn against 'appeasement' with Russia, ceasefire talks without Ukraine

Feb 13, 2025
Once upon a time, in a place called Ukraine, there was a brave President named Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He was busy talking about something very important: peace! You see, there was a big fight between Ukraine and Russia. People wanted the fighting to stop. Zelenskyy said, “No one should make deals about Ukraine without Ukraine!” He wanted Europe to help decide on what would happen next. Many leaders in Europe agreed. They said, “You can’t talk about Ukraine without inviting Ukraine to the table!” But there were some other leaders, like a man named Donald Trump from America, who were talking to Russia too. They wanted to make a deal, but Zelenskyy felt a little worried. He thought it wasn’t fair if everyone talked while Ukraine wasn’t there. It is like planning a party and not inviting the birthday kid! Some leaders in Europe were cautious. They warned, “If you make a secret deal without us, it won’t work!” They also believed that Ukraine should always be included in these talks. If a decision was made, it should be for Ukraine, with Ukraine being part of the plan. Meanwhile, everyday people in Ukraine were feeling worried, hopeful, and a bit confused. Some thought that if the talks didn’t include them, it would be a really bad thing. And others just wanted the fighting to stop. Through all this, Zelenskyy and the leaders kept pushing for peace. They wanted everyone to remember: real peace talks should include everyone affected, especially the people of Ukraine. So, the story teaches us that in important talks, everyone should have a voice. Being left out can lead to misunderstandings. And in the end, everyone hopes for a safe and peaceful future, where children can play and families can stay together without fear.
